Accessibility

CanServe's commitment to accessible service, what we've built for it, and how to tell us when something doesn't work.

Our commitment

CanServe is committed to serving people with disabilities with the same dignity, independence, and quality as everyone else. We design the platform to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, which is the standard the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requires for web content, and which the Accessible Canada Act points to federally.

What we have built for it

  • Every page works from the keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a skip-to-content link.
  • Colour is never the only way information is given: statuses carry a word as well as a colour, and text meets the contrast the standard requires.
  • Forms have real labels, errors are announced, and each says what to do about the problem rather than only that there is one.
  • The partner app is built for one-handed use on a phone, with large targets and no time limits on a form.
  • Motion respects the system setting that asks for reduced motion.

Where we know we fall short

Maps are visual by nature. Everything a map shows — the service address, each attempt with its time and outcome — is also written out in text on the same page, but the map itself is not usable without sight.

PDF proofs and invoices are generated documents; if you need one in another format, ask and we will provide it.

Accessible formats and support

We provide information about our services in an accessible format or with communication support on request, at no extra cost, and we work with you on what suits you. Ask through our contact page.

If you use a service animal or a support person, they are welcome anywhere we meet you.

Feedback

Tell us when something doesn't work: use our contact page, or call. We answer accessibility feedback within 5 business days, in the format you contacted us in, and we say what we will do about it.

Our multi-year accessibility plan and our policies are available in an accessible format on request.
